GENERAL ELECTION 2020
November 3, 2020

The City of Wheeler has the following positions open for election in the November 3, 2020 General Election:


Positions Open for Election for Terms Beginning January 2021:

​

1) Mayor (currently held by Stevie S. Burden - retiring effective July 21, 2020)
2) City Council Position 2 (currently held by Dave Bell - four-year term expiring January 19, 2021)
3) City Council Position 3 (currently held by Heidi Stacks - four-year term expiring January 19, 2021)
 

How to File for Office

Filing Dates:

Filing opened on June 3, 2020. 

 

  • To file by fee, bring your SEL101 form to Wheeler City Hall for approval.  The fee is $25, payable by cash or check.

 

  • To file by petition, bring your SEL101 and SEL121 to Wheeler City Hall for approval before gathering signatures. (Please call ahead for an appointment.) Return your SEL101 and SEL121 to Wheeler City Hall by August 14, 2020 to allow time for us to submit the filing to the County Clerk for signature verification, before filing closes on August 25, 2020

When completing the forms, please note the following:

​

•    Our Filing Officer is the City Manager
•    For city offices, party affiliation is "Nonpartisan"
•    To qualify, you must be a registered voter and must have resided in the city limits during the 12 months immediately preceding the election.
•    Indicate the office you are filing for and position.
•    The signature requirement is the lesser of either 500 signatures or 1% of the number of votes cast in the district for Governor.  We recommend collecting at least four signatures. Signers should be active registered voters at the time of signing the petition and must reside within city limits.  Complete signer requirements are found on page 29 of the Candidate Manual linked below.
